What’s New for the 2023 BMW i4?
The BMW i4 was introduced in 2022 as one of only a few all-electric vehicles in the line. In 2023, the most significant update to the i4 is the addition of the i4 eDrive35. This base trim level comes with a rear-mounted, 281-horsepower electric motor. Its battery has a range of 260 miles. The two other i4 trims are unchanged from the previous model year. The eDrive40 has a range of 301 miles and produces 335 horsepower. At the top of the spectrum, the sporty M50 has two electric motors with all-wheel drive. It offers a 469 horsepower and 270-mile range.
The exterior of the 2023 BMW i4 is unchanged. It has a graceful, athletic design defined by flowing, aerodynamic curves and sweeping accents across the sides and hood. A second set of angled air vents near the front wheels accompanies the gill-like front air vents. The nose is beautified by a tall, narrow grille mounted above a compact, black element. The premium LED headlights add to the i4’s athletic look with their striking angle and two curved light ribbons. The new i4 eDrive35 has 18-inch wheels, auto-dimming mirrors, and a sunroof. The higher trims may have up to 20-inch wheels, a rear spoiler, and summer performance tires.
Inside, the i4’s design is comparable between the 2022 and 2023 model years. A two-tone color scheme, a contiguous display for the instrumentation screen and infotainment screen, and a driver-centric center stack distinguish the dashboard. The new trim’s interior is designed with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a two-zone auto climate control system, synthetic leather, keyless entry, and a keyless ignition. It also has safety tech like front and rear parking sensors, automatic emergency braking, a lane departure warning, and a blind-spot detector with rear cross-traffic sensing. With higher trim levels and optional packages, the 2023 i4 may also be available with wireless phone charging, a premium Hardon Kardon sound system, a 360-degree camera, and other items.
