The 2025 BMW X5, belonging to the model’s fourth generation, continues its evolution with an update to its features and technologies. This midsize, two-row crossover SUV has seen numerous mid-generation updates in recent years, and it carries forward into 2025 with exciting new additions, notably the availability of the hands-free Highway Assist feature. With this technology, drivers can confirm their intent to change lanes by simply looking at the appropriate side mirror after activating the blinker.
The aesthetic appeal of the BMW X5 remains consistent with its 2024 counterpart. Sporting a tall profile with a gently sloping roof and a raked rear for enhanced cargo space, the X5 features an angled crease running above the door contouring, accentuating the rear fender. At the front, the iconic BMW kidney grille boasts a distinctive double-bar design with slightly pointed corners, while the lower fascia is adorned with angled, upright accent bars. The lean, tapered headlights exhibit pointed LED designs with tall, C-shaped air intakes below.
Three powertrains are available for the 2025 BMW X5. These include an inline-six turbo generating 375 horsepower, a twin-turbo V8 producing 523 horsepower, and a plug-in hybrid system delivering 483 horsepower. All three options come equipped with all-wheel drive and an eight-speed automatic transmission.
In addition to the new Highway Assist feature, the 2025 X5 retains comparable equipment from the previous year.
