The 4 Series has four trim levels. The first two feature the same 255-horsepower engine as the 330i. The 430i has rear-wheel drive, while the 430i xDrive has all-wheel drive. The second two trims have the same 386-horsepower unit as the M340i. The M440i has rear-wheel drive, while the M440i xDrive comes with all-wheel drive.
Appearance
When you compare the 3 Series and the 4 Series next to each other, you will immediately notice the body style differences. The side panels are comparably contoured and defined with elevated definition. At the front end, the 3 Series has a swooping, well-defined hood as well as a slender grille with double-elemental LED headlamps and large, deep-set air vents.
The 4 Series is differentiated by unique wheel designs and slightly different LED accents in the headlights. Notably, the 4 Series has a tall grille with slightly squared-off corners and a dot-like pattern on the grille.
