Performance

The 2025 5 Series’ plug-in hybrid version is the 550e xDrive. It has an inline-six, a turbo 3.0-liter system, and an electric motor to generate 483 horsepower. Impressively, it travels 87 miles on all-electric power. This system features all-wheel drive and an auto eight-speed transmission. The two gas engines available for the 5 Series are unchanged. These are a 255-horsepower, turbo 2.0-liter, four-cylinder engine and a 375-horsepower, inline-six, turbo 3.0-liter unit. In comparison, the i5’s single-motor layout produces 335 horsepower and comes with rear-wheel drive. The M60 trim comes with two motors. This all-wheel drive setup generates 593 horsepower.

Appearance

The 2025 5 Series sedan is visually identical to its predecessor. This elegant model boasts a long, flowing design accentuated by smoothly angled definition running across the sides. At the front, the two-part grille features vertical bars and sharp edges. The headlights’ LED accents and the slit-like air inlets are athletically angled. The 2025 i5’s style includes deeper, crisp contouring on the door panels. The grille is smaller yet has a similar shape. It is mounted over a large, upturned bumper. The headlights are comparable to the 5 Series’ headlights, and the lower air inlets have a triangular quality.
