Performance

The 2026 X5 has two powertrain options. The entry-level system has a 375-horsepower, six-cylinder, turbo 3.0-liter engine and features mild-hybrid engineering for enhanced fuel economy. This system is available with an eight-speed automatic transmission and either rear-wheel or all-wheel drive. The high-performance X5 trim level, the X5 M60i, comes with a turbo 4.4-liter, V8 engine with mild-hybrid components. It produces 523 horsepower.

The X5 Plug-In Hybrid has one powertrain available. This system includes the same turbo 3.0-liter, six-cylinder engine that is offered with the X5. It also has two electric motors and standard all-wheel drive. This is a 483-horsepower system that has a 40-mile all-electric range.

Appearance

The 2026 X5 and the X5 Plug-In Hybrid are comparably styled. The primary difference is that the plug-in outlet cover is visible on the latter model. These models have an enviable look, bold front-end design, and strongly contoured sides. The lower side panels, front fender air vent, grille, and squared-off bumper have brilliant chrome accentuation. The compact grille is also styled with vertical accents. The dramatically pointed LED headlights make a bold statement. Both models are available with 20-inch wheels, run-flat tires, power-folding and heated side mirrors, and keyless entry.

Features

Regardless of your preference for a gas or plug-in hybrid powertrain, the X5 has standard features like a three-zone auto climate control system, a navigation system, a 14.9-inch touch display screen, a wireless device charger, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, a wireless hotspot, a push-button starter, and heated front seats. Standard safety features are auto high beams, parking sensors, blind-spot intervention, a blind-spot detection system, a lane departure warning, and forward collision mitigation.
